Our Profile

Carol trained in psychodynamic counselling initially in Hampshire, at an affiliate of the Westminster Pastoral Foundation and then at Birkbeck College, University of London. She continued her professional development with 2 years at the Institute of Group Analysis, a placement with The Place To Be in London, and subsequent briefer courses at a number of major training institutes including WPF, Caspari and The Tavistock.

Prior to counselling Carol was a teacher for 15 years.  She began in Primary education and moved through Middle School teaching, specialising in French, through to Secondary school, and some work in Further Education.  She developed a particular interest in the emotional impact and effects of education - why people of apparently similar ability learn so differently - and it was this interest that led her into the counselling world.

She is currently working as an Educational Counsellor in North London, working with children, individually and in groups, with teachers, teaching assistants and parents, and liaising with therapeutic, welfare and psychological services in the area.

She is also a visiting lecturer at The Caspari Foundation, London, and at Birkbeck College, University of London. As a Director of Analytic Practice, she offers individual counselling and supervision, including brief interventions through the Employee Assistance Programme, for a major local publishing company.
